Quotes

"Everyone is a star in their own lives." - Unknown

"The only reason we die is because we accept it as an inevitability." - Stewie Griffin or Neil Gaiman 'Sandman'

"The truth wears longer than all the gods; for it is only in the truth's service, and for love of it, that people have overthrown the gods and at last God himself. "The truth" outlasts the downfall of the world of gods, for it is the immortal soul of this transitory world of gods; it is Deity itself." - Johann Kaspar Schmidt

"When you are with a good friend, you never need a mirror." - Unknown

"If I have seen further, it is only because I have stood on the shoulders of giants." - Isaac Newton

"Chance favours the prepared mind." - Louis Pasteur

"Software powers the internet." - Oracle

More Quotes

More quotes that I haven't been able to fit in on the Ident-pages:

"Opportunities multiply as they are seized." - Sun Tzu

"A thing moderately good is not so good as it ought to be. Moderation in temper is always a virtue; but moderation in principle is always a vice." - Thomas Paine

"It is error only, and not truth, that shrinks from inquiry." - Thomas Paine

"Time makes more converts than reason." - Thomas Paine

"The glory of friendship is not the outstretched hand, not the kindly smile, not the joy of companionship; it is the spiritual inspiration that comes to one when he discovers that someone believes in him and is willing to trust him with his friendship." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

"The biggest difference between an intelligent person and an idiot is that the intelligent person enjoys learning new things whereas the idiot doesn't." - Metadigital

"Believing in God doesn't make you moral. Not believing in God doesn't make you intelligent." - Metadigital

"There are wise people and there are rude people, and there is very little overlap between the two." - Metadigital

The quotes are provided by Metadigital of the PN forum, forum.philosophynow.org.

"Advance and never cease, for advancement is perfection. And fear not the thorns in the path, for they draw only corrupt blood." - Kahlil Gibran

"Blessed is the season which engages the whole world in a conspiracy of love." - Hamilton Wright Mabie

"Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds." - Albert Einstein

"Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former." - Albert Einstein
Note: even though human stupidity is said to be infinite, it's unclear how this can take place because I think stupidity is generally short-lived. One interpretation can be a kind of stupidity in the Cantor sense that one has intelligence that lies in the scope of infinite stupidity, that is, either that the statements are so stupid that the (theoretical) consequences can be nothing but infinite stupidity going down those Cantor equivalents or that these people of this kind go on to ramble forever, aimlessly, in so far as they can do this, by being or having souls.

"No price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche

When you have the idiot in front of you and you know you have the power and you get to exercise some moral character, I can only advise this for the good vigilante/pistolier:
The Classic Ezekiel 25:17, it goes,
"The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the iniquities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men. Blessed is he who in the name of charity and goodwill shepherds the weak through the valley of darkness, for he is truly his brother's keeper and the finder of lost children. And I will strike down upon thee with great vengeance and furious anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord when I lay my vengeance upon thee."

"Do the things you used to talk about doing but never did. Know when to let go and when to hold on tight. Stop rushing. Don't be intimidated to say it like it is. Stop giving your power away. Be more concerned with being interested than being interesting. Be old enough to appreciate your freedom, and young enough to enjoy it. Finally know who you are." - Kristin Armstrong

"Expect everything, hope for the best!!!" - Common quote of wisdom
Note: this should be fitting for these times we now live in.

"Don't worry, be happy!" - Chinese slogan now, and declared so only recently in terms of years.

"It takes a crazy person to finish life, to die a natural death. Life is hard and intuitions fall rapidly!" - Common quote of wisdom

"One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests." John Stuart Mill.

I've begun collecting these on this webpage today, 05.04.2010, and will continue to do so. I've taken these quotes from various sources and I will not bother to mention these sources as anything else than "the Internet and more".

Note: quote from Kristin Armstrong, has been added 03.04.2011.
Note2: the last quotes, of China and of public knowledge, have been added 04.07.2011.
Note3 for this page only (as opposed to my other web-pages): as these Quotes are not mine, I put on a date as I like. The dates may therefore not reflect publishing dates.
-----------------------------------
Note4: I've added separation lines for the last quote as I like to keep the original html pages as they've been since I've taken them down. Though, you are justified to expect this to change as soon as they are relaunched at own website (again, probably on a new domain). I also plan to keep a record for changes by RSS as I've done in the past!

  1. With so much superficial people around, I think A. Behring Breivik's quote is very good: ""One person with a belief is equal to the force of 100,000 who have only interests." John Stuart Mill." Consequently, I intend to add it on my own quotes.html-page (version here is presented).

(I can also report to you that I have confirmed one deletion or more (possibly hacking on ISP/phone company/tech-eyes grounds) of this text as this is delivered by Blogger.)

  7. Strictly, Ezekiel 25:17 spells out like this: (Ezekiel 25:17, New International Version (NIV), i.e., Erasmus of Rotterdam.)
"17" "I will carry out great vengeance on them and punish them in my wrath. Then they will know that I am the Lord, when I take vengeance on them." But let's be generous and give "Pulp Fiction" a bit too. Congratulations to the team!
